Our Story: Caring for North Vancouver Pets Since 2009
Dr. Paramjit Sidhu purchased Norgate Animal Hospital in 2009, bringing with him more than two decades of veterinary experience and a clear vision for the kind of practice he wanted to build. After earning his Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry from Punjab Agricultural University in 1987 and contributing two years to public health through the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Dr. Sidhu acquired the hospital at 1435 Marine Drive and made it his home base on the North Shore. Since then, he has transformed it into a full-service veterinary clinic trusted by thousands of families across North Vancouver and the surrounding communities. Today the hospital is a true family practice, co-led with his son Dr. Gurinder Sidhu, known to clients as Danny, who shares the same commitment to honest communication, individualized care, and a genuine partnership with every client.
Meet Our Veterinarians
Norgate Animal Hospital is a family-owned and operated practice, led by Dr. Paramjit Sidhu and his son Dr. Gurinder Sidhu, known to clients as Danny. Dr. Paramjit Sidhu has dedicated more than 35 years to veterinary medicine and brings a depth of experience across complex medical presentations and a wide range of surgical procedures. His approach is built on accessibility and honesty, values that have defined the practice since he purchased it in 2009. Dr. Gurinder Sidhu, Danny, carries those same values forward with his own patient-centred philosophy. He focuses on clear communication, thorough examinations, and care plans that are genuinely tailored to each pet and each family’s needs. Together, this father and son team has built a practice where both the medicine and the relationship with clients are taken seriously.
Our Approach to Care
We believe the best veterinary care is built on partnership. No two pets are the same, and no two families have identical needs, budgets, or priorities. Before we make any recommendation, we take the time to examine your pet thoroughly, discuss your concerns, and walk through the options that make sense for your specific situation. We do not apply a one-size-fits-all approach to timing, products, or procedures. Whether you are bringing in a puppy for their first vaccinations or navigating a complex health concern with a senior dog, we will meet you where you are. We also believe in low-stress handling and cooperative care techniques, so your pet builds a positive relationship with veterinary visits from day one.
Extended Hours for Urgent and Same-Day Care in North Vancouver
We know that pets do not wait for convenient times to become unwell. Norgate Animal Hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM, and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, giving you access to same-day and urgent care during hours when most clinics are closed. If your pet experiences a sudden illness, injury, or a situation that cannot wait, call us at (604) 980-2222 and we will assess the situation and prepare for your arrival. Our extended hours mean that for the vast majority of urgent situations, you have a trusted, familiar team to call on without having to travel far or start over with a clinic that does not know your pet.
